In the book Dune the main character, Paul Atreides, the son of the duke gets stranded on a desert planet and has to survive and make allies in order to defeat Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. On the planet there are deadly sand-wurms and valuable spices that both Paul and The Baron want because they allow certain people to see the past or future.
