I decided to try out for the NATA open round this year because I wanted to try working with a deadline - and a tournament like this looked like so much fun!

The theme of this open round was "Discovering Time Travel", so there was no doubt that this would be very different from what I've worked on earlier. I stood with 3 very different ideas for animations; one was of the past, at the !beginning of time!, another was of a little child, building his own feature, and the third was of a little astronaut, getting sucked into a wormhole. I decided to merge the first and the third idea, since none of them were strong enough on their own. And so I went with a short little animation about an astronaut getting sucked into a wormhole to "the beginning" in which he would start time. My thought was that we always travel through time, into the future, and so time travel has already been discovered in a way. So, apart from traveling to the beginning of time, that little astronaut was also the one to discover time travel because he turned the hourglass and set everything in motion. I went with a simple, naive style and a brush that I've never tried using before, so in many ways this was one big experiment.

I wasn't sure if I would be able to make the flash in time (since all my recent projects have taken 6-12 months), so I took as much time as I could, animating on this. I'm glad that I'm able to call this done already, since exams are coming up!

- Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoy :)
