Making history as the youngest conductor appointed by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO), multiple competition prizewinner Wilson Ng will illustrate his electrifying interpretation of twentieth century repertoire in two virtuosic orchestral showpieces by Hindemith and Blacher. The concert also features International Chopin Piano Competition laureate Dong-Hyek Lim in Scriabin’s Piano Concerto.

Last featured as flute soloist at the 2013 Hong Kong Arts Festival, Wilson Ng is set to make a glorious return as the associate conductor of the Seoul Philharmonic (SPO). A laureate of the Mahler (Bamberg) and Sir Georg Solti (Frankfurt) competitions, among others, Ng made history when he became the youngest-ever conductor of the SPO, the first Asian orchestra to land an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon.
Lauded for his robust and electrifying interpretation of the 20th-century repertoire, Ng will perform with the Moscow-trained and Berlin-based award-winning pianist Dong-Hyek Lim in Scriabin’s Piano Concerto in F minor. Other highlights of the programme include Hindemith’s Mathis de Mahler, an iridescent orchestral triptych inspired by Grünewald’s Isenheim Altarpiece, as well as Blacher’s Paganini Variations, a signature work of the composer and a meticulously crafted “concerto” for orchestra in all but name.

曾以獨奏家身分於香港藝術節演出的吳懷世，將以首爾愛樂副指揮之稱號重返藝術節舞台！吳懷世近年於國際樂壇獲獎無數，繼於2017年獲蘇提爵士國際指揮大賽亞軍，更於2020年榮獲指揮界標誌性大獎——德國馬勒指揮大賽季軍。吳懷世以28歲青年之姿獲首爾愛樂委任為樂團副指揮，成為這個亞洲歷史最悠久之一樂團的首位華人指揮。《韓國聯合新聞社》形容他指揮蕭斯達高維契交響曲「宛若作曲家本人再現」，強而有力且極具天分的指揮風格備受肯定。
韓國鋼琴家林東赫為莫斯科柴可夫斯基音樂學院史上最年輕的學生，擁有扎實功力與凌厲琴藝。音樂會在吳懷世的帶領下，將與樂團攜手演繹史克里亞賓唯一的鋼琴協奏曲。同場樂團也將演出亨德密特的交響曲《畫家馬賽厄斯》（其後發展成一部同名歌劇），描述一位畫家參與農民革命後領悟自己的藝術使命，隱含當時作曲家對於納粹時期政府的真實寫照。
