Guitarist, vocalist, composer, arranger, JPOP specialist, university professor and doctor of musical arts.

Dr. Capital’s singing, playing and producing has been heard on hundreds of songs, including collaborations with GRAMMY winning artists Peter Erskine, Hussain Jiffry, Brad Mehldau and Daniel Lanois, and multi-million selling J-Pop superstar Angela Aki. He has performed onstage and/or TV with Ayaka, Nakayama Miho, Masayuki Suzuki, Kanjani Eight, STU48 and American Idol star Crystal Bowersox.

A fluent speaker of Japanese, Dr. Capital tours regularly in Japan and frequently appears as a commentator and performer on radio and TV, including NHK, Asahi TV and TV Tokyo. On his YouTube channel, Dr. Capital deconstructs the music theory and techniques of Japanese popular (JPOP) songs for a general audience. He was featured on the cover of Japan’s Acoustic Guitar Magazine summer 2020 edition.
