About Spencer Fan

Herbert Spencer (27 April 1820 – 8 December 1903), the man who famously coined the oft-quoted and universally misunderstood "survival of the fittest" was a 19th English philosopher, naturalist, railroad engineer, inventor and all around cool dude.

Spencer is likely the most maligned, most reviled, and most misrepresented thinker by the Establishment in history. What's not to like?

The Wikipedia entry is well... so-so. To know Spencer means to read Spencer. One cannot take ANYONE'S opinion on Spencer at face value. He's a pain in the ass to read but very rewarding if you do... at least it was for me.

Spencer is an absolute MUST read for serious libertarians especially "Social Statics."
