If anyone happens to be reading this who wants to get and configure their first firearm to carry, please consider the following:

1-carry your firearm in a fitted holster with a trigger guard. None of this naked-in-the-waistband with one on the chamber crap.

2-purely asthetic modifications are likely to be lower quality than the factory part, and also make you a target for prosecutors (it’s not good to treat your carry gun like a toy or status symbol)

3-high penetration rounds put bystanders in danger. Stick to hollow points, and cover your butt by sticking to ammunition that says “defense” on the box.

4-you don’t need a gigantic aftermarket magazine for defense. This is a another thing that will put you in a prosecutors crosshairs if you ever need to use the weapon to defend yourself. If 12-15 rounds and a reload won’t get you out of the situation, you’re probably dead anyway.

5-your first (and maybe only) modifications should be a light and an optic.
