I'm a long-time outdoorsman dreaming of hosting a bushcraft center. My camping style is more old-fashioned and I prefer cooking outdoors in an antique "Cold Handle" or in cast iron.
There seems some confusion about genuine bushcraft.
As I see it, there are bushcraft (woodcraft to me), preparedness, reenactment, and survival... overlapping on a continuum, but not the same. Real bushcraft is non-gadgetry; preparedness employs technology and materiel bridging to older skills of sustainable lifestyles; reenactment of traditional lifestyles is like choosey research; but survival includes anything that will get you through a tight situation.
Basic woodcraft is the ultimate skill set for survival, because it assumes starting from next to zero, with maybe a blade, or with nothing at all, lightly clothed or naked in the boreal forest during winter.
